At the Four Wheeler Adventure Expo in Orange County just prior to SIP orders over Covid-19, I got a chance to tour an awesome turnkey overland Ford Ranger XLT on display (as well as an overland Chevy Silverado Z71) with Drew Kerly, Marketing Director of RMT Overland. This overland Ford Ranger can come completely built out as you see, from Ford Dealerships with full factory financing, FMVSS certification and a warranty.
RMT Overland is an approved outfitter for not only Ford, but GM & RAM as well. They receive vehicles directly from the factory, install their exclusive packages and then the vehicle is sold wholesale to the dealer where you buy directly off the lot. As Drew eloquently puts it, “The RMT Overland Ford Ranger XLT package is a turnkey adventure solution for somebody that is interested in getting into overlanding but maybe doesn’t have the time or the experience needed to be able to outfit a vehicle themselves”.
As you see this overland Ford Ranger currently sit without the tent included in the package, its retail price is the same as a new Tacoma TRD Pro. Despite a matching price, RMT Overland’s package fits the Ford Ranger with more accessories, and outperforms. Here’s what you get in the RMT Overland Ford Ranger package below.
RMT Overland Ford Ranger Suspension, Armor Upgrades & Wheels
Just a glance in the wheel well of this Ford Ranger from a distance, I could see some suspension parts glittering in the sun so I had to get the scoop of course on what’s been upgraded.
The front-end suspension has been beefed up with BDS coilovers, BDS upper control arms and FOX 2.0 shocks. In the rear, shocks have been upgraded to Fox 2.0 as well.
Armor includes a beautifully designed tubular brush guard front bumper that is winch-ready. This particular overland Ranger XLT on display had a WARN winch installed which is an option. The bumper also has as standard an integrated 20” Baja Designs LED light bar. Step slider rock rails and a matte black quarter panel rock guards are also part of this overland package.
The wheels are exclusive RMT Overland 17”x9” (they appear to be beadlock, but I did not confirm) with 33” BF Goodrich KO2 tires. To keep those meatier wheels inbounds, RMT Overland has incorporated their exclusive smooth matte black finish fender flares.
Ford Ranger Overland Accessories
RMT Overland certainly showcase their design skills with their Ford Ranger hood light mounting plates, outfitted with Baja Designs Squadron Cube lights. The mounting plates are slotted so you can add lights and position as desired. These come standard with the RMT overland package. Other standard items include a custom RMT gauge panel (calibrated), badging and other items.
There’s a host of available upgrades as well for this Ford Ranger overland package that includes a bed rack system, Maxtrax, Rotopax, an exclusive RMT roof rack, a CVT or iKamper roof top tent and more. One of my favorite upgrades is the wireless trigger controller six-shooter system with a remote to control any accessory lighting on the vehicle. This way you can light your way at night when outside your truck simply using a remote – a pretty handy feature.
Thanks to Drew pf RMT Overland for the great, informative tour of both this Ford Ranger XLT, and their overland Chevy Silverado as well. If you get a chance, check out the video in this article.
