This awesome looking overland Chevy Silverado RST Z71 was being shown at the Four Wheeler Adventure Expo in Costa Mesa, CA by RMT Overland, who’s a GM approved Special Vehicles Manufacturer (also Ford & RAM). We had a chance to get a first look at it via a stellar, informative interview with Drew Kerley, Marketing Director for RMT Overland.
Believe it or not, this awesome 2020 Chevy Silverado RST Z71 is available through Chevrolet Dealerships as a brand new, turnkey overland truck with FMVSS certified RMT Overland components and a full 3-Year, 36,000 mile GM factory warranty. You can even finance the price of the package right into your monthly truck payment and it can be serviced at your local Chevy Dealership.
“There’s a lot of companies that are out here [at the Four Wheeler Adventure Expo] that are selling accessories for vehicles that you already own”, mentions Drew. “There’s a lot of hardcore overlanders out here and off-roaders, but let’s say you’re the guy that has just gotten interested in overlanding, and don’t have a lot of experience in putting upgrades on your vehicle yourself. but you’re interested in taking you, your significant other, your kids out into the woods or into the desert and getting both feet wet in the overlanding lifestyle. Overland Silverado Z71 Suspension, Wheels & Trail Armor
Suspension components ugraded on this Overland Chevy Z71 include BDS upper control arms, Fox 2.5 adjustable remote reservoir coilover front shocks & Fox 2.5 piggy-back reservoir rear shocks. The Silverado comes with RMT Overland exclusive 18”x9” black matte finish wheels, 34” BF Goodrich KO2 tires & smooth matte black fender flares.
Up front there’s a really nice looking RMT high clearance tubular front bumper that can house an optional winch. To protect the truck body, RMT has added tubular style rock rails and quarter panel rock guards.
RMT Overland Chevy Z71 Lighting
One of the items that gets alot of attention on these turnkey overland Silverado is RMT’s exclusive (and really cool) hood light mounting plates that come with Baja Designs Squadron Cube Lights mounted to them. As Drew mentions, “The way that we designed these is to accept a universal bolt & nut system. It’s key slotted, so that you can change the position of your lighting or add additional accessories if you want.” Other off road lighting includes a Baja Designs 20” LED light bar mounted in the bumper.
Other RMT Overland Silverado Package Features
A handful of other features as part of the turnkey overland package for the Silverado Z71 include an RMT overland gauge cluster that’s been recalibrated, black exhaust tips and custom RMT badging and graphics.
Optional Upgrades
As you can see in the pics and video, RMT Overland offers optional upgrades that include a Yakima bed rack system, Maxtrax & Rotopax and even the iKamper hard shell roof top tent. “We are also in the process of developing our own proprietary bed rack system that will incorporate many of these same features”, states Drew.
There’s also a really cool option to install a Trigger Wireless Lighting Control System that allows you to control your lights via a remote when you’re out away from the vehicle, so you don’t have to climb in/out of it to turn them on/off.
