There are so many things cool about the LuminAID solar light it’s hard to know where to begin, but let’s start with who made it. Designed by Andrea Sreshta and Anna Stark, co-founders of LuminAID Lab, the LuminAID solar light is inflatable and looks like a glowing pillow. The simplistic design is genius, yet incorporates slick solar lighting technology to produce a comforting soft glow that can easily replace a lamp, candles or any other light source.
According to LuminAID’s website, with 4 hours of charging under full sunlight, the light will shine for 6-8 hours depending on what setting it’s at. Because it’s just and inflatable bag, it only weighs 4.5 oz and folds up small and flat so it doesn’t take up virtually any storage room. The light is waterproof and as you probably guessed, can float too.
As you can see in the video below, the LuminAID light was originally conceptualized to help victims of the Haiti Earthquake. The light is only $15 and for $10 more, you can donate another light to someone who is in need.
